Bridges & Marine Structures
Working on the water while removing marine structures requires greater expertise, experience and coordination than demolishing anything on land. CDI’s experience in the successful demolition of thousands of suspension, arch, truss, girder and bascule bridge elements and other marine structures can be the critical factor in executing a demolition plan to meet the marine contractor’s schedule and ensure attainment of removal limits the first time. Where bridge structures have deteriorated or suffered damage, CDI experience in dealing with failed yet standing structural systems becomes even more important on marine projects where a second chance can be expensive if not impossible.
Our DREXSrn (Directional Remote Explosives Severance) systems are engineered and applied to reliably segment steel components into pieces matching the capacity of the contractor’s equipment in consideration of river bottom conditions. State of the art and proprietary underwater blasting techniques ensure fragmentation of piers, dams and other marine structures to removal limits, and maximize efficiency of post-blast debris removal.
Hands-on management, from design through preparation and completion of marine demolition operations, ensures absolute safety of personnel and on-schedule performance while minimizing impact on navigable waterways, aquatic life and water quality.
