Earthquake Damaged Structures

CDI’s in-house engineering capabilities and field analysis of structural damage permits for rapid demolition design after any Earthquake.

CDI can draw on its unparalleled progressive failure database and professional, third-party structural consultants to work with governmental agencies, property owners and contractors in stabilizing dynamic conditions, setting the stage for subsequent forensic investigation into the cause of the collapse, and emergency demolition operations as may be needed.

Colonia Roma – Mexico City, Mexico

After the 1985 earthquake, CDI was called to Mexico City by the US Department of State to assist local authorities in the demolition of structures that were still standing despite severe structural damage.

While preparing numerous structures for implosion, CDI also provided guidance to over 400 employees of four Mexico City-based general contractors on the conventionally demolition of dozens of other structures.  In total, CDI demolished 26 structures, sometimes as many as 4 in 1 day in various parts of the shattered city without a single injury to workers or contractors who supported our effort.
