Florida Power & Light – Lauderdale Plant

PROJECT OUTLINE

In 2017, CDI was contacted by Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) as respects helping them budget the cost for clearance of their Fort Lauderdale Gas Generation Plant, one of the first ever built by FPL. Two (2) years later, CDI quoted competitively for the work and was awarded the Contract.

CDI completed the original $4,727,275 contract, ahead of schedule, and also performed six (6) Change Orders valued at an additional $1,637,191 that were defined/awarded by FPL during CDI’s performance of the original scope.

CDI’s team processed 19,000 metric tons of steel, 2 million pounds of non-ferrous and demolished 80,000 tons of reinforced concrete from above-grade structures and below-grade foundations that extended below the water table at the Plant. That concrete was crushed and remained on site for FPL’s use in construction of the new combined cycle facility.

CDI also performed coffer cell and other construction work to seal water intake structures to expedite follow-on work by others.
