Tonawanda Coke Plant Chimneys

After years of controversy about and conflict between the Owners of the Tonawanda Coke Plant and surrounding communities, the final structures came down, safely, at the site on Saturday, June 5, 2021. CDI, working for the Main Demolition Contractor, Ontario Specialty Contracting, Inc. of Buffalo, New York, CDI felled one (1), 230’ tall, reinforced concrete coke battery chimney, one (1), 270’ tall, reinforced concrete boiler house chimney, and one (1), 275’ tall, radial brick boiler house chimney. The project was coordinated with environmental consultants and regulators and safely completed to the satisfaction of all.
